Clean Air. Safe Water. Healthy Communities.

Climate impacts are already costing Wisconsin families through flooding, heat, health risks, and damaged infrastructure. Wisconsin for Environmental Justice works to protect communities and demand accountability for those who cause the harm.

Estimated cost to Wisconsin communities to adapt to climate impacts:

$16.7 billion by 2040

Home Damage & Repairs
School Closures & Building Upgrades
Higher Local Spending & Taxes

From extreme weather that closes schools to floods that damage homes and roads, Wisconsin communities are already feeling these impacts. The costs show up in higher taxes, strained local budgets, and growing health risks like asthma and heat illness.

A recent study estimates Wisconsin taxpayers could pay nearly $1 billion every year just to adapt to climate damage. Taking action now can protect families, save money, and ensure polluters, not residents, pay their fair share.

What is Environmental Justice?

Environmental justice is about fairness and shared responsibility.

It recognizes that environmental harm does not affect everyone equally, and that communities most impacted should have a meaningful voice in shaping solutions. It also means that the costs of environmental damage should not fall on families and local taxpayers.
