"More": The Escalating Cost of Climate Inaction

The operative word in our climate crisis is "more." We aren't just facing climate change; we're facing a world that demands more of everything we dread and desperately needs more of what can save us.

For too long, our reliance on fossil fuels has fueled a dangerous acceleration. We're witnessing more intense climate events, striking more frequently than ever before. This means more devastating droughts scorching agricultural lands, leading to crop failures and food insecurity. It means more catastrophic floods inundating homes and communities, displacing millions and causing billions in damage.

The Domino Effect of "More"

The ripple effect touches every aspect of our lives. Homeowners are bracing for more significant insurance rate increases as insurers struggle to keep pace with the escalating risks. Our health is under assault, with more asthma attacks plaguing communities choked by air pollution and extreme heat. The joy of winter is diminishing, as more winters experience less snow, which impacts water resources, winter sports, and local economies. The heat of summer is becoming unbearable, leading to more wildfires that rage out of control and a desperate need for more air conditioning, which strains energy grids and contributes to the very problem we're trying to escape.

Beyond individual impact, our local government budgets will face more challenges in meeting the damages of climate change. Repairing infrastructure after floods, fighting wildfires, managing heat emergencies, and providing disaster relief all put immense strain on public funds, diverting resources from other essential services.

The list of "mores" is alarming, seemingly endless—more extreme heatwaves, more species extinctions, more strained public services, and more forced migration. The weight of these accumulating burdens is becoming unbearable.

The Imperative for "More" Action

But the "more" we truly need isn't more

despair, but more action. We need more citizens to rise and demand change. We cannot afford to be passive observers. The time for waiting is over. We urge you to go to WEJ, sign the petition, and join our movement. This collective power, this unified voice, is the only force strong enough to shift the tide.

Furthermore, we demand more accountability from the fossil fuel industry. For decades, they have profited immensely while knowingly contributing to this crisis. It is time they are held responsible for the damage they have caused. This accountability will, in turn, bring about more justice – justice for the communities disproportionately affected by pollution and climate disasters, justice for future generations whose inheritance is being jeopardized, and justice for our planet.

The escalating "mores" of climate devastation are a stark warning. However, they also present an undeniable opportunity: an opportunity for more collective action, unwavering advocacy, and profound change. The future of our planet, and indeed our very survival, depends on our ability to embrace the "more" that truly matters.

What "more" are you willing to do to secure a sustainable future?
